Rulon's story

This is my dad, Rulon.

Doesn't his smile just make you want to smile back.
I love my dad to pieces. He is the kindness, most gentle man I know.
My dad grew up on a dairy farm. He worked hard growing up doing a lot of physical labor to help the family put food on the table.
He worked hard in college and became a dentist. Dentist sit. My dad loves ice cream (did I mention he grew up on a diary farm). He kept a small piece of land to farm and play around with while I was growing up. And that kept him in pretty good health.
My dad carries his extra weight in the most dangerous place possible, his middle. His father died of a heart attack at the young age of 63. My dad is 63. My dad inherited that same heart. Doctors have told him for years if he didn't lose weight he was going to have a heart attack. Several years ago he developed type 2 diabetes from being overweight. He has been on blood pressure medicine for as long as I can remember.
After I had success with this program I introduced it to my dad. He was off all his blood pressure medication and medication for diabetes within two weeks. Now the only pills he takes are vitamins. The real shocker to my mom and his children was that he stuck to it!
I spent Thanksgiving with him this year. He had a great feast. But the very next day he weighed in and didn't like what the scale said so he got on the treadmill and passed on the leftovers. I talked to my mom two days later and she said the scale was back down to where he wanted it to be.
I'm so grateful because I know this has added a few more years for me to enjoy my father and he is going to enjoy them now because he's energy is back, he sleeps at night and he is self motivated. He's on the journey to optimal health!

Heidi's Story

My story:
I had always struggled with my weight, even from the time I was in High School and never really felt comfortable in my clothes, especially my pants. They seemed to always be tight, and when I would buy a bigger size, I would still feel uncomfortable. I wasn't terribly over-weight and was always fairly athletic to keep it in check, but for me the weight seemed a never-ending battle. Then I turned 40 and the weight just never went down; only up, and I was worried. One year I decided to make a last ditch effort to lose weight by running consistently and was soon running 3-5 miles (and up and down hills!), 3 times a week. After a whole year of doing this, I had lost only 3 pounds...but gained another size. It was exasperating and depressing. I was one to not eat very much and couldn't figure out why I could not lose weight, while eating so little.
It was in this low period when I ran into a friend (Kim Fiske) who had just lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. I "begged" her to tell me what she had done, and long story short, she helped me get started on what has become the most wonderful weight-loss and health program I've ever tried. And I had tried a lot of things! I lost 10 lbs in my first month and that is all I ever imagined I could lose, but went on to lose 15 more in the next 1 1/2 months as well as going down 5 whole sizes! I was ecstatic! I had never felt healthier and more energetic.
My husband tried it too and he lost 45 lbs, much to his delight and went from high levels of cholesterol to within the normal range in about 2 1/2 months. It was an amazing process for both of us!
Both of us have kept the weight off for more than a year and we are still so healthy and happy. I can only thank my health coach and this wonderful program for helping us get through this process. Now I'm helping others realize their dreams of optimal health and reaching their weight-loss goals. It is amazing to see so many people get to where they want to be health-wise as well as financially. This program helps people in all three ways of their lives: physically, mentally and financially. Wow, what a great thing!

MY STORY

This is my story...

I love to run! (Robie Creek 1/2 marathon 2009)

My true love is SWEETS!
That + This= Yo-Yo
Sound familiar to anyone. You bust your tail at the gym for an hour and a half and yet the scale never seems to give you a break!
I would start fresh on Monday with conviction and determination to get those 15 postpartum pounds off (The baby's 18 months). I would run for an hour 6 days a week and starve on 1200 calories. Weigh in on Friday. Sometimes the scale would give me good news, a whole 2 pounds!!!
I was so hungry from burning that many calories all week with cardio and being very strict with my calorie intake. Come Friday night...WATCH OUT!
Needless to say I ate everything around me knowing that Monday morning I was never going to do this again. Monday morning the scale would be up again. I would end up feeling guilty and depressed. Hopefully, it didn't last too long or the pounds would pack on more and more until the pants were too tight again. It would start all over one Monday morning.
I was always searching for ways to lose weight. Different combinations of food, what foods are best, pack in the fiber, drink lots of water, put ice in your water to burn more, counting calories.
Thank goodness for my love of exercise. As I am leaving my youth behind (just turned 30) I found after my last baby it's getting harder to get off. (50 pounds gained, 5 pound baby--you do the math! Never been pregnant over the Holiday's, can you say PARTY!)
Anyway, it was insane the amount of exercise I needed to do to take off one pound. With 4 children and a husband who require my love and attention and service daily I was not willing to devote that much time to exercise.
And counting calories, was a ton of work. I found I wasn't getting enough protein and was losing muscle and really starving my body of calories it needed to function. That always led to eventually binging.
In July 2009 my sister-in-law introduced me to a wonderful program. I was sceptical at first. I have always been determined to do this myself. She never thought of me because it didn't look like I had a weight problem. I guess to most people my 15 pounds weren't a big deal. My 15 extra pounds were as painful to me as someones extra noticeable pounds. They caused tears to flow and frustration to build. We don't have to be broken in the same way to know it hurts.
The program gave me the tools I needed to lose weight and get healthy easily. I realize that our bodies have to be fed the correct balance of nutrition in order for them to respond to burn fat. I have cut my cardio exercise in half!
I lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. I have kept it off for 4 months now, lost an addition 2 pounds.
But the story I really want to share with you... I have given my life balance. It started with my physical body. Feeding it the right balance of food and exercise. As I continue doing that, I have moved on to add balance to all aspects of my life. It's fun, it's exciting and most of all it brings GREAT HAPPINESS!
The journey will never be over for me so while I'm on this ride I want to invite all who are ready and feel inspired to join me, just for the fun of it! (It's nice to have company:)
